Cân i Gymru
The Choir are delighted that their Musical Director – Erfyl Owen(Bov) has made the short list for the Finalists in this year’s Cân i Gymru competition.
The eight shortlisted songs of the Cân i Gymru (Song for Wales) competition have been selected. And the eight will compete live on S4C on 1 March at Theatr Bryn Terfel, Pontio, Bangor, with the presenters Elin Fflur and Trystan Ellis Morris at the helm.
This year, S4C received 114 songs – the highest number to compete for some years.

The S4C film crew have been in the village filming to create a profile for Bov ready for the TV show next month. Bov has even more reason to feel proud of himself as taking part in the Show will be his son Hari and his pop group.

The Choir announced that a new singer has joined the choir namely Alan Jones Rhydonnen who lives in the Llanynys parish.

The Hall was full of a receptive audience to listen to the choir and it was nice to hear that the Hall Committee had made a nice profit to help with funds for the maintenance of this handsome building
List of Concerts
Saturday,March 2nd 2018 – Ruthin Conservative Club – St David concert
The Choir has been in existence for 7 years(nearly to the day) and their very first concert was at the Club when they only knew 3 songs which they sang twice to stretch the evening. This will be their fifth concert at the Club and members of the choir are looking forward to it.
7:30pm Friday March 23rd, 2018 – Ruthin Memorial Playing Field Association
The Choir have been invited to do a concert to raise funds for the running of the above Association which does a fantastic job in providing Sports facilities for the inhabitants of Ruthin and its surrounding area. The Concert will be held in the Association’s Pavilion on the Parc-y-Dre Playing Field – entrance at the back of the Fire Station.
Sunday June 10th – ‘Dechrau canu dechrau canmol’ – Llanfair TH church.
Friday June 22nd – Concert on the eve of Llanrwst Eisteddfod

Saturday, August 18th, 2018 – Ruthin Flower Show
The Choir are delighted to be invited, for the 5th time, to sing at the 2018 Ruthin Flower Show. At last year’s show – the audience were very appreciative of the Choir’s performance and we are looking forward to a repeat performance at this year’s show at the local Farmers Mart which is close to the Northern roundabout of the A525 to Denbigh.
Bov is adamant that we will produce the much heralded CD – as promised.
